The present invention provides a door locking bar mounted on the door of a building, particularly of the type for use in conjunction with and actuated by a dead bolt lock. The door locking bar is designed for use with conventional dead bolt locks which generally have a key lock on the exterior of the door and a rotatable handle on the interior of the door. Actuating the locking mechanism of the dead bolt lock with a key causes rotation of the rotatable handle on the interior of the door. The door locking bar is linked tothe handle of the dead bolt such that locking and unlocking the dead bolt handle locks and unlocks door locking bar. The door locking bar thus adds strength and security to the door and allows the individual opening the door to use only one key to actuate both the door locking bar and the dead bolt lock. The door locking bar comprises a receptacle mounted on the door jamb, a bar for selectively engaging the receptacle, bar guiding means for slidably retaining a bar on the door, a connection member for engaging the dead bolt lock handle and a linkage member linking the bar and the connection member.
