Controllable colour filter has (a) a first transparent carrier plate, (b) a second transparent or mirror carrier plate and (c) a polymer gel containing polymer(s), including polymer(s) forming a network, in which is dispersed (d) a thermochromic dye, which undergoes a reversible colour change in the temperature range in which the polymer gel is in the gel state.
