Hydraulic play adjuster for IC-engine valve drive

The hydraulic play adjuster is mounted in a bore (1) in the end of the tappet (2) and has a hydraulic play compensator (3) with a longitudinally slidable piston (4) engaging a stop disc (7) in the bore. The stop disc has a central oil feed recess (10) and an air evacuation duct (12) extending around its circumference. An annular gap is defined between the stop disc ad the bore due to the difference in their diameters. The gap and the oil inlet and air evacuation ducts are arranged so that there is a minimum distance between the air evacuation duct and the tappet axis.
