The striker (2) or a part connected to it has a hollow space (9) limited by forward and rear ends to house a number of ball weights (10) which move freely in the direction of striker movement. The striker is cocked by a driver pin (12) which runs transversely through striker and space, acting as an end-stop for contained balls and also at the rear end of the space. When the trigger (4) is pulled, a spring (3) drives the striker forward at the same time as the balls move back under inertia onto the pin. The striker end impacts the valve plunger (7) of the gas gun or ammunition cartridge, so the balls in this stage move forward under the inertia effect and so onto the space sunk face (11).
