ALIGNING AGENT FOR LIQUID-CRYSTAL CELLS

An aligning agent for liquid-crystal cells comprising as the main component a polyimide and/or polyimide precursor prepared by reacting and/or polymerizing a tetracarboxylic acid derivative component with a diamine component, characterized in that at least part of the diamine component is composed of a compound of general formula (1), (wherein n is an integer of 1 to 12) and that the aligning agent gives a tilt angle of alignment of 2 DEG or below to nematic liquid crystals.
