Data transmission by multicarrier modulation using a higher power for reference symbols

The method involves transmission of digital signals symbols formed from N orthogonal modulated carrier frequencies which have been multiplexed. The digital signal comprises reference elements which have a value and position in the time-frequency domain known to the demodulation device. The reference elements have attributed power values which are between 1.2 and 2 times greater than the power values used to carry the useful information. This allows reference and information elements to be easily distinguished.
