Catalyst for the oxidation of waste water impurities with peracids

Alloy catalyst containing cobalt, nickel, tungsten, chromium and optionally copper, iron or manganese, used for the oxidation of impurities in effluent using peracids and/or hydrogen peroxide catalysts, optionally in combination with organic acids and oxygen, is prepared by heating an alloy containing 10-60 mass % cobalt, 5-50 mass % nickel, 5-20 mass % tungsten, 5-25 mass % chromium and optionally upto 25 mass % copper, iron or manganese for 0.05-3 hr at 250-1250[deg]C in an oxygen atmosphere.
