Millennium bug scanning system to test Personal Computers

The system is supplied as an executable program on a floppy disc. When it is inserted in the disc drive of the computer under test, the program first tests the hardware to ensure that no PROMs or other firmware contain year dates in a two digit form. The program then examines the Built-In Operating System - BIOS - of the computer. Finally it tests all loaded applications. Any problems or potential problems are identified on the screen by a simple "traffic light" system: green for OK, amber for uncertainty or red for a definite problem. The system also checks for any year 2000 leap year problems
