A protective tent for automobiles comprises a rectangular sheet (1) with rounded corners, having in the each of front and back transverse edges thereof a pair of longitudinal tensioner straps (2 alpha , 2 beta , 2 alpha ' and 2 beta ') to be connected and tightened against corresponding transverse tensioner straps (3, 3'). The connection is accomplished with clutches (4, 4'), after fastening transverse tensioner straps (3, 3') together through fastening members (5, 5'). Clutches (4, 4') permit the desired adjustment of the stretched length of tensioners (2 alpha , 2 beta , 2 alpha ', 2 beta ') and, thus, of the operating length of the whole tent, making the tent suitable for use on any car regardless of length. The thus fastened portions of front and back tensioners (2 alpha , 2 beta , 2 alpha ', 2 beta ') with portions of transverse tensioner straps (3, 3'), are positioned under the car's hood and trunk, which, when closed, secure the tent in place. On the underside of the tent, which is preferably made of cotton fabric, are affixed three elastic inserts (6) that create hollow spaces ( alpha , beta , gamma ) wherein air can freely circulate, thus providing better cooling of the car shaded the tent. |
