PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antiageing agent containing the extract of a leguminous plant, Sophora flavescens Aiton, having an esterase-inhibiting action, and enabling to hold the tension and elasticity of skin and retain the young state of the skin. SOLUTION: This antiageing agent contains the solvent extract of a leguminous plant, Sophora flavescens Aiton, as an active ingredient in an amount of 0.0005-20wt.%, preferably 0.001-10wt.%, based on the whole amount of the agent for external use as a dry product. The extract is especially obtained by immersing the roots of Sophora flavescens Aiton in an extraction solvent (e.g. 1,3-butylene glycol) or thermally refluxing the mixture, filtering and subsequently concentrating the filtrate. Basic cosmetics, make-up cosmetics, hair cosmetics, bath articles, toiletry products, etc., can be prepared. The extract of the Sophora flavescens Aiton exhibits an esterase-inhibiting activity, inhibits the denaturation of elastin which is an elastic fiber, has good elasticity and enables to maintain the skin free from wrinkles and looseness. |
