PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter effectively collecting soot to hold the same, excellent in heat resistance and possible to regenerate by allowing a large number of small vent holes to pierce the almost entire surface of a plate-shaped inorg. fiber molded object wherein inorg. fibers are bonded by a binder. SOLUTION: Inorg. fibers such as alumina fibers or silica fibers are dispersed in water under stirring and a binder such as a silica sol or aluminum lactate is added to water to be dispersed therein and a flocculant is subsequently added to flocculate all of components and the formed flocs are molded into a plate shape. This molded object is dried to be baked and, if necessary, processed into a plate shape with definite thickness and through-holes or slits are perforated in the plate-shaped object to form a large number of vent holes. These vent holes are through-holes with a diameter of 0.5-10mm or through-slits with a width of 0.5-6mm. The filter thus obtained is attached to a ventilation fan to remove vapor or soot of oils and fats. |
