PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an exterminating agent for harmful microorganisms having an antimicrobial spectrum in a wide range, excellent in antimicrobial and antifungal effects and inhibitory effects on proliferation of various harmful microorganisms and to provide a method for exterminating harmful organisms in a white water system in a papermaking process. SOLUTION: This exterminating agent for harmful organisms comprises (A) glutaraldehyde and (B) 3,3,4,4-tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide in the blending ratio of the components A and B of (100:1) to (1:10) by weight. The components A and B are separately or simultaneously added to a white water system in such a way that the total concentration is >=1ppm to exterminate harmful microorganisms in the white water system. |
