PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the produced amount of a useful protein such as human serum albumin as a foreign protein by culturing a host transformed by gene manipulation in a specific medium. SOLUTION: A host capable of producing a foreign protein prepared by gene manipulation is cultured in a medium containing a fatty acid alkyl ester (10-26C fatty acid, preferably oleic acid methyl ester) and the foreign protein is collected from the culture product. Pichia pastoris GTS115 strain (his 4, NRRL deposit No. Y-15,851) is preferable as the foreign protein producing host. |
