PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning technique of producing regenerated cellulosic fibers, having a high strength and a high ratio of a wet to dry strengths comparable to those of cotton and high abrasion resistance and excellent in mechanical properties. SOLUTION: A cellulosic dope, comprising cellulose and an aqueous solution of calcium rhodanate or the cellulose and an aqueous solution of sodium rhodanate, kept at a cellulosic concentration C (wt.%) satisfying the formula C>2.96×10<3> (DP)<-1.209> (>=200 polymerization degree DP of the cellulose) and having <=20 deg. extinction angleχin the streaming birefringence method when applying 100sec<-1> shear rate thereto is discharged from a nozzle for spinning into a gaseous atmosphere and formed into a gel-like filamentous material while applying >=3 spinning draft to the cellulosic dope in the gaseous atmosphere. The resultant gel-like filamentous material is then brought into contact with a solvent capable of extracting the rhodanate and water and subsequently desolvated and crystallized.
