PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controlling agent capable of effectively controlling cock- spur grass known as a weed in paddy rice field by using a specific microbial strain or its cultured product. SOLUTION: This agent contains a microorganism belonging to the genus Bacillus having controlling effect on cock-spur grass or its cultured product as an active component. A concrete example of the microorganism belonging to the genus Bacillus is Bacillus pumilus H350-1 strain. The culture promoting agent is preferably used in a state, in the case of using living microorganism, produced by suspending about 10<5> to 10<10> cells/ml, preferably 10<7> to 10<10> cells/ml of the microorganism in water, especially sterilized water or a proper aqueous solvent. In the case of using the filtrate of cultured product, the supernatant of the cultured product is diluted at a dilution ratio of about 1-100, especially 1-10. The controlling agent is scattered in an amount of about 10-1,000 liter per 10 are of a paddy rice field 1-3 times during the period before the germination to 30 days after the germination of cock-spur grass. |
