PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Fe-Ni invar alloy improved in high temp. cracking resistance and excellent in the low temp. toughness in the weld zone without preventing its physical properties (low thermal expansibility) and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: This Fe-Ni invar alloy excellent in the low temp. toughness in the weld zone is the one having a compsn. contg., by weight, 30 to 45% Ni, <=0.003% S, <=0.007% P, <=0.004% O, 0.001 to 0.1% Sb, <=0.07% Sn, 0.006 to 0.03% Al, <=0.003% N and (S%+0.5×P%+O%+0.2×Sn%): <=0.02% and having <=0.019% cleanliness.
