PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-contg. lubricant compsn. excellent in flame retardance by compounding a lube base oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil with water and specified amts. of a specific nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a monohydric alcohol, and a polyhydric alcohol. SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding the major component comprising about 10-50wt.% water and about 10-50wt.% lube base oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil with 5-35wt.% nonionic polyalkylenne glycol surfactant represented by the formula: R<1> -O-(R<2> O)n -H [wherein R<1> is a 12-25C alkyl; (R<2> O)n is an oxypropylene or oxyethylene polymer block; and n is 2-10], 2-10wt.% anionic surfactant (e.g. an alkali metal salt of a 10-20C satd. or unsatd. carboxylic acid), 1-15wt.% 6-20C monohydric alcohol, 3-15wt.% 6-20C polyhydric alcohol, and if necessary an aliph. amine deriv. |
