PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fuel economy of an engine by maintaining the trace supply state of fuel to the engine in its predetermined running condition. SOLUTION: An electronically-controlled throttle valve M2 controlled by electronically-controlled units(ECU) M3 to M6 is provided in an intake duct M1 for an engine. The ECUs are held in their fuel-cutting control states even if the engine is idling, and control the throttle valve M2 to its fully-opened state on requirements that the driver is not stepping on a brake pedal BK. The pumping loss is thus reduced to suppress the engine-braking operation, and the fuel-cutting control duration is prolonged to effectively improve the fuel economy. |
