PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording ink which causes neither feathering nor bleeding, can provide satisfactory image density, rapidly dries on paper, and has good ejection reliability, and an ink jet recording method using the same. SOLUTION: This ink jet recording ink comprises water, a colorant, and a water-soluble organic solvent. In this case, it further comprises 0.1 to 3wt.% polymer, with an average mol.wt. of 1,000 to 20,000, having a carboxyl group in a free from or a salt structure, 1 to 20wt.% water-soluble org. compd., which is solid at room temp. and vaporizes by not less than 50wt.% at 100 to 350 deg.C, and 1 to 20wt.% compd. represented by the formula: R-O-Xn H (wherein R represents a 4-8C alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl, alkylphenyl, alkenylphenyl, or cycloalkyl group, X represents an oxyethylene or oxypropylene group, and n is 1 to 4). This ink has a surface tension of 20 to 40mN/m, an a pH value of hot less than 7.5. Ink jet recording is carried out so that the amount of the ink ejected per one droplet is 1 to 70ng. |
