<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce production cost to a large extent and to keep the high removing capacity of NOx over a long period of time by adding a water-soluble resin or starch paste to soil wherein granite is mixed with leaf mold to culture denitrifying bacteria to mold a plurality of bacteria culture granules and packing a cylindrical body with the bacteria culture granules to constitute a gas cleaning bed. SOLUTION: A water-soluble resin such as polyvinyl alcohol or starch paste is added to soil wherein granite is mixed with leaf mold to culture denitrifying bacteria being soil bacteria and the whole is molded into a spherical form to form a plurality of bacteria culture particles 1 and a large number of particles 1 are filled into a cylindrical body 2 to constitute a gas purifying bed 3. Both end parts of the cylindrical body 2 are closed by air permeable filters 4, 4. The cylindrical body 2 packed with the bacteria culture particles 1 is inserted and arranged in an exhaust duct 6 and, when contaminated gas is introduced into the cylindrical body 2 from one end thereof, NOx contained in the contaminated gas 5 is converted to harmless nitrogen gas by the reducing action of denitrifying bacteria cultured in the bacteria cultured particles and pourified gas 5' is discharged from the other end of the cylindrical body 2.</p> |
