EMULSION PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATION FOR DIAGNOSING LIVER CANCER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pharmaceutical preparation capable of selectively depositing to cancer tissue of liver cancer and accurately diagnosing the liver cancer by carrying out film emulsification by a specific method using a porous glass film. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation is an O/W type emulsion preparation comprising (A) a water phase containing at least one kind of aqueous solution of salts and saccharides and (B) an oil phase containing oily X ray contrast media as a main component. Furthermore, average particle diameter of oil phase particles is within the range of 40-200μm and the emulsion preparation does not substantially contain oil phase particles having particle diameter of <=50% based on the average particle diameter and oil phase particles having a particle diameter of >=200% based on average particle diameter and ratio of oil phase particles having a particle diameter of 75-150% based on average particle diameter is >=80vol.% based on total oil phase particles. The water phase preferably further contains an aqueous surfactant and the oil phase preferably further contains an oily surfactant. The preparation is obtained by permeating the water phase through a porous glass film having 10-16μm average pore diameter under conditions in which critical pressure and film resistance do not exist and then permeating the oil phase through the porous glass film under above conditions to disperse the oil phase into the water phase.
