FIELD: railway transport; electric drives. SUBSTANCE: motor-in wheel has stator of end induction squirrel-cage motor 4 installed for enclosing part of wheel 3. Disk of wheel 3 is provided with slots accommodating windings 10 of rotor 7. Conductors of winding 10 are placed in disk of wheel 3 radially and are interconnected by outer and inner short circuiting rings 11 and 12, respectively. Stator of motor has two independent ring-shaped active parts 5, 6 each being rigidly connected with corresponding semi-casing 13 (14) of stator. Both semi-casing 13, 14 embrace wheel 3 at two faces, are detachably connected by unit 15 and are secured on axle 1 of motor 4 through suspension 16 and shock absorbers 17. Protective seals 18 are placed in clearances between stator semi-casings 13, 14. Shock absorbers 17 are placed in clearances between semi-casings 13, 14 and axle 1 of wheel 3 to serve as protective seals. Through diametrically arranged slots are made in disk of wheel 3. Stator slots are shaped to suit shape of coil. Stator winding 19 has two layers, each being fitted in separate slot of stator, or one of layers is fitted at the right side and the other at the left side of stator. Cooling system has circular circulation cooling pipes 8 arranged under end portions of stator winding, each on corresponding semi-casing 13 (14) of motor 4.
