PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antioxidant, highly safe and effective and having no problems in toxicity and capable of being used as a raw material for foods, cosmetics and medicines by using an extract of a natural material having antioxidant activities. SOLUTION: In this antioxidant composition, one or more extracts or Uncariae ramulus et uncus, Magnoliae Cortex and Mallotus japonicus Muell. Arg. are used. As an extracting solvent, a water-containing alcohol such as water and methanol, or an organic solvent such as acetone or ethyl acetate is used singly or in combination. The effective ingredient is compounded in 0.005-20.0wt.%, especially 0.01-10.0wt.% on dry base for the total of a preparation for external use. The antioxidant composition can be used as skin preparations for external use, e.g. an ointment, a cream, an emulsion, a lotion, etc. Oils and fats such as turtle oil are prevented from oxidation by using this composition, thus, the oils and fats can be effectively compounded in cosmetic materials. |
