PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a relevant KANJI (Chinese character) of a word by receiving the Japanese reading characters of readable KANJI, the number of characters, the character positions in the KANJI word, etc., and retrieving a KANJI word dictionary together with the converted readable KANJI by means of a single KANJI dictionary. SOLUTION: A retrieval engine means 13 confirms based on the retrieval information inputted by a user whether a readable character serving as a retrieval key is inputted in a Japanese reading character or KANJI and then decides whether the KANJI conversion of the Japanese reading character should be carried out by means of a single KANJI dictionary 14. When the readable character is inputted in a Japanese reading character, the means 13 acquires the KANJI information on the Japanese reading character via the dictionary 14 and produces the retrieval information on the readable character that undergone the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI conversion for retrieval of the dictionary 14. Then the engine 13 retrieves a KANJI word dictionary 15 based on the retrieval information to extract all relevant words. When these words are extracted, the undesired words are deleted based on the part-of-speech information on every word. |
