PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the quantity of drain corresponding to the quantity of generation of condensate and assuredly prevent water from leaking in a room by providing a temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of an indoor heat exchanger and a humidity detecting means for detecting room humidity and setting the operating time of a drain pump based on the detected results of them. SOLUTION: When the operation of an air conditioner is started, the temperature of an indoor heat exchanger 1 is gradually lowered. When a temperature detecting means 4 detects the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger 1 which is lower than t1 deg.C, a timer setting means 6 selects a prescribed timer setting time based on whether room humidity detected by a humidity detecting means 5 is lower than h1% RH or not. A drain pump operating means 7 operates for a period of T1 and stops for a period of T2 a drain pump 3 based on the timer setting time selected by the timer setting means 6 so that condensate in a water receiving pan 2 for storing the condensate generated in the heat exchanger 1 is drained. This operation is repeated until the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger 1 becomes t2 deg.C or t1 deg.C or higher. |
