PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the loss in constant speed running and increase the running distance in a single charging. SOLUTION: In a double motor driven electric vehicle, torque instructions τ1 and τ2 which correspond to an acceleration signal As are sent from a vehicle controller VC to inverters INV 1 and 2, and the motors M1 and M2 of rear wheels W1 and W2 are driven by the inverters. The motors M1 and M2 are driven by setting the torque instructions at 0% and 100%, in response to the acceleration signal As , and alternately sending the instructions to the INV 1 and 2 during constant speed drive, by detecting the constant speed drive status. Although a torque of 100% is outputted as the motors M1 and M2 are alternately driven by a torque instruction of 100%, the motors M1 and M2 are not driven simultaneously. Therefore, the number of motors driven is 1, and motor iron loss and inverter loss are almost halved, compared with the case wherein two motors are simultaneously driven. |
