PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably carry a recording medium after a toner image is transferred by providing a destaticization member for attaining destaticization and simultaneously, guiding the recording medium, so that it approaches a spatial region on an image carrier side and projectingly curving the recording medium to the side of the image carrier. SOLUTION: A transfer paper 5 has destaticization work, while being in contact with the conductive brush 11 of the destaticization member 10, after the top end of the transfer paper 5 in its carrying direction is separated from a photoreceptor 1. Simultaneously, the transfer paper 5 is lifted up with respect to a transfer paper carrying path 13 in a linear direction, by the conductive brush 11. By such a change in the position of the carrying path, even if the small-diameter photoreceptor 1 is used and further, as a transfer means, a transfer charger 2 is used, the transfer paper 5 comes into contact with the photoreceptor 1 with a large area, in the peripheral direction of the small- diameter photoreceptor 1, in a transferring part 7. In other words, the contact angleθof the transfer paper 5 with the photoreceptor 1, in the peripheral direction is made larger.
