PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the insertion of cards of wrong types or the incorrect inserting direction of cards. SOLUTION: A power control part 6 decides based on the current value supplied to an IC card whether a normal IC card is inserted or the card inserting direction is correct. If the normal card is not inserted in the correct direction, a control circuit 6 of an IC card device 1 ejects the card. For instance, it's possible to detect the abnormality of the IC card before the transfer of initial communication data (ATR) is confirmed and to stop the supply of power to the card or to eject the card even when a wrong card is inserted or the card inserting direction is not correct. As a result, both IC card and circuit 6 can be protected and also the waiting time needed for ejection of the wrong card can be shortened. |
