<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable running of an ultrathin magnetic recording tape. SOLUTION: In the tape cartridge, a magnetic recording tape 7 traces a belt 1 to be sent by a friction force generated between the belt and the tape. The tape cartridge is provided with a mechanism whereby a plurality of belt rollers 5, 6 winding the belt 1 therearound are moved to control a path length of the belt and the friction force between the belt 1 and tape 7 is changed thereby to control a tensile force of the belt in a direction to restrict a change of the tensile force in accordance with the wound amount of the tape and a feed direction of the tape, so that the tensile force of the tape and the change of the tensile force are reduced.</p> |
