PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely confirm a read error and to avoid waste of recording paper by stopping image forming when a read error of image information is detected in the case of reading stored image information and displaying a page number of a corresponding original. SOLUTION: A primary storage unit 121 is made up of a DRAM capable of high speed access and a secondary storage unit 122 is made up of a large capacity hard disk unit or the like. Then the read/write of image information from/to the secondary storage unit 122 is conducted in compliance with the SCSI standard and when a secondary compression/expansion unit 144 reads the image information from the secondary storage unit 122, the unit 144 detects whether or not the image information is correctly read to correct a detected error. When the error information amount exceeds an amount correctable by an error correction code, it is discriminated to be a read error, the transfer of the image information by a CPU is stopped and read error information including a page number corresponding to the operation section is displayed. |
