PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a decoder in which quality deterioration in video and audio signals is suppressed at the occurrence of a synchronizing signal error and to provide the decoding method therefor. SOLUTION: This decoder is provided with a frame counter section 11 for receiving a bit stream 101, a synchronization pattern detection section 12, a data error check section 13, a synchronization detection section 14 and a frame error discrimination section 15. The a synchronization detection error-generating signal 106, generated by the synchronization detection section 14, is not outputted to an external error processing circuit but fed directly to a frame error discrimination section 15. Even though a timing of the synchronization pattern detection signal 104 outputted from the synchronization pattern detection section 12 may not match with a timing of a frame position signal 102 outputted from the frame counter section 11, resulting in causing a frame synchronization error, if the data are normal, decoding processing is executed without error countermeasure processing. |
