PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sodium secondary battery which can be operated at a low temperature, by adding a specific amount of barium chloride into a positive electrode active material with mixed salt of a metal salt compound and sulfur as an essential ingredient. SOLUTION: In a sodium secondary battery, one room partitioned by a solid electrolyte material is charged with a negative electrode active material with sodium as an essential ingredient, more one room is charged with a positive electrode active material with mixed salt of metal chloride and sulfur as the essential ingredient. In this constitution, 10mol% or less barium chloride is added into this positive electrode active material, to be operated at 180 deg.C. By adding barium chloride to the positive electrode active material, its melting point can be lowered. In this way, a selecting width of a constitutional material of the battery and a material usable in a seal material is spread. Thickness of a heat insulating material, when it is modurized, can be thinned, so that compactification of the module can be attained. Further, corrosion resistance is improved, to be continued to extension of a life. |
