<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether a cartridge is in a holder or not in a short time by providing a mechanical detecting mechanism for detecting the cartridge on the side of a magazine. SOLUTION: The library device has a magazine 1 having a large number of holders 10 for housing memory cartridges respectively, a drive mechanism 2 for reading the memory cartridge, an accessor 3 for carrying the memory cartridge in moving between the magazine 1 and the drive mechanism 2 and a magazine moving means for moving the magazine 1. Then, the device is moreover provided with a detecting means 30 provided on the holder 10 for the purpose of detecting insertion/ejection of the memory cartridge 8 in detecting a position of a slider member 21. In this constitution, the detecting mechanism 11 for detecting the cartridge is provided on the magazine side. Thus, since it is not necessary to operate the accessor for the purpose of detecting the cartridge, whether the cartridge is in the holder or not can be detected in a short time.</p> |
