Magnetic device for detecting and monitoring moving elements. The magnetic device for detecting and monitoring moving elements is based on the decrease caused by magnetic fields on the impedance of amorphous or nanocrystalline wires excited by a high frequency current. The sensor element consists of: An amorphous or nanocrystalline wire of low negative magnetostriction fed by a high frequency alternating current. The changes in impedance, as a result of the presence of continuous magnetic fields, are collected as a reduction in the electromotive force, by means of a detector circuit. The device is used to find the number of moving elements that have passed by strategic sites at which sensors have been placed. <IMAGE>
