PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a rubbing defect of an orientation film and improve the contrast and picture quality of a display device by including a black matrix which is formed on the orientation film and covers a spacer between pixel electrodes. SOLUTION: A TFT plate has such surface structure that the orientation film is uniformly formed on the surface of the TFT plate formed of circuit constituent elements such as a gate line 22 or data line 30 and a pixel element such as pixel electrode 100, a passivation film, etc., and has grooves formed constantly and the black matrix 280 is formed on the orientation film to >=1μm. Therefore, grooves formed in the orientation film at a corner part become constant. Consequently, liquid crystal positioned within a 1-2μm range at the periphery of the black matrix pattern 280 is oriented smoothly, so the contrast rate and picture quality become excellent. |
