摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the degradation in bands after transmission, to lessen transmission loss, to lessen the deformation of a clad layer by caulking in mounting to a connector and to increase mounting strength by specifying the Young's modulus of the cured matter of a UV curing composition contg. fluorine and the numerical opening of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The resin used for the clad is the cured matter of the fluorine- contained UV curing compsn. having the Young's modulus of >=10kg/mm<2> . The plastic clad optical fiber having the numerical aperture of the optical fiber of 0.2 to 0.3 is formed. Namely, the Young's modulus of the clad is 10kg/mm<2> and, therefore, the front end part of the optical fiber is inserted into the connector and the drastic change of the clad layer by caulking does not arise and the optical fiber is not easily disconnected from the connector when the connector is caulked under ordinary conditions. Since the numerical opening is in a range of 0.2 to 0.3, the mode of the higher order propagating in the core dissipates into the clad, the transmission band is improved and the transmission loss does not increase.
