PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display exactly the same calculation expression and a mathematical expression on the mathematical expression display device such as a function electronic calculator and a program electronic calculator which can perform arithmetic processing including a root calculation by distinctively showing the range of a root with the bar part of a root symbol even when arithmetic processing based upon a calculation expression containing a root calculation is performed. SOLUTION: A root bar is display at the same time on a key-inputted numeral or numeric data from when a flag is sets in a '√' with a '√' key unit when the flag is reset with a ')' key, so the calculation expression containing a '√' expression can be displayed at a display part 17 exactly as the mathematical expression shows by adding a bar display for the range of the root.
