Dashboard for vehicle

The pre-assembled dashboard is supported by rigid air ducts (4,5) and has at least some of the fittings attached before assembly into the vehicle. Fittings include the air conditioning unit (2), airbags (11), instruments and control. Different parts of the moulded construction have materials of different hardness to match the required support and to provide impact protection for the occupants eg. impact absorbing mountings for foot pedals and steering wheel. Fibre reinforced plastics mouldings are used, strengthened by ribbing where necessary. The design incorporates adjustments to cover tolerance ranges in the vehicle shell. Different parts of the construction, as well as the fittings, can be removed for replacement/repair.
