Solid dispersions or solid dispersion preparations containing tricyclic compounds represented by general formula (I) or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof and a process for producing the same; wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, amino, lower alkylamino, halogenated lower alkyl, halogenated lower alkoxy, halogeno, nitro, cyano, carboxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxymethyl, CR<9>R<10>CO2R<11> (wherein R<9>, R<10> and R<11> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or lower alkyl) or CONR<12>R<13> (wherein R<12> and R<13> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or lower alkyl); R<5> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl; R<6>, R<7> and R<8> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy, lower alkoxy, lower alkanoyloxy, lower alkylthio, thiocyanato or halogeno; X represents CH or N; Y<1>-Y<2> represents CH2-O, CH3-S(O)n (wherein n is 0, 1 or 2), CH2CH2, CH=CH or CON(R<14>) (wherein R<14> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl): and Z represents oxygen or sulfur.
