A syringe (20; 120) for mixing a first liquid substance (94) with a second substance (96) prior to the discharge of the mixture (98) from the syringe. The syringe includes a rigid cylindrical tube (22), a compression plunger (40) made of a resilient material and mounted in said tube (22) in sealing contact with the inside thereof, a separating plunger (50; 121, 121a) made of a resilient material and placed inside said tube (22) between the compression plunger (40) and the outlet (26), in such a way that said compression plunger, said separating plunger and said cylindrical tube define a first chamber (56) for containing a substance, and sealing means (34) adjacent to said outlet (26). Said sealing means, said separating plunger and said cylindrical tube define a second chamber (58) for containing a substance, and said separating plunger (50; 121, 121a) is shaped to let the first liquid substance (94) from one chamber through into the other chamber containing the second substance (96), whereafter the mixture (98) in said other chamber may be fed to said outlet (26). Said syringe is a medical syringe in which a dry active substance is mixed with a solvent prior to injection.
