The downward-pointing inner book (3) is continuously conveyed by means of conveyors (8) along a duct (4) which has fly-leaf (1,2) ducts (10) beside it. The fly-leaves are separately taken from a stack and supplied to the fly-leaf ducts where they are conveyed together with the inner book. The separated fly-leaves, in the direction of travel of the feeder systems (I,II) leading to the fly-leaf ducts (10) are temporally adapted to the movement of the conveyors with the inner books. The stacked horizontal fly-leaves are contained in a magazine (13). The fly-leaves are separated by feeders (18,19,22-26,30) and are transferred from a horizontal to a vertical position by conveyors (12,28,29) between the feeders and the fly-leaf duct.
