A process for granulating a surface of a workpiece (2), comprises making in said workpiece (2) a through aperture (6) on which a body (12) is placed on one side of the workpiece (2). The body (12) is then welded to the workpiece (2) in the aperture (6) by a laser beam (14) penetrating into the aperture (6) from the other side of the workpiece (2).
