The regulator (15) has a housing with an inlet and an outlet with a control valve between them for regulating the gas flow. The valve body is connected to a controller which adjusts it according to at least one gas pressure at the inlet. A first sensor upstream of the control valve detects the inlet side gas pressure. A sensor downstream of the control valve detects the outlet gas pressure. An electronic control unit derives a control signal for the control valve control element to maintain the outlet pressure constant.
