Compressed air brakes for vehicles include an air dryer with an inner port (2) fastened inside an outer pot (1) to leave an annular space (4) between them, the cross section of which increases from a base (5) to a closing wall (6) of the outer pot. Between this wall and the boundary wall (8) of the inner pot is a compression spring (7). The inner pot has an inlet (12) and outlet (13) and it is filled with a granular material for drying the air. Preferably the cross section of the interior space (9) of the inner pot decreases approximately continuously to the upper boundary wall, which has a centrally located cylinder (10) to accommodate the compression spring.
