PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carboxylate ester, excellent in ester yield, hardly causing titanium elusion from a catalyst and capable of reusing the catalyst. SOLUTION: When a carboxylate is produced by reacting a carboxylic acid and/or anhydride thereof with an alcohol, a silica titania catalyst prepared by hydrolyzing a partial hydrolyzate of alkoxysilanes and/or halogenated silicons with a hydrolyzable titanium compound in the presence of a basic catalyst is used as a catalyst. The silica titania catalyst is an amorphous silica titania containing titanium having tetrahedral coordinate structure. |
