PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a block copolymer provided with a structure and a combination of structures unobtainable through other roots by subjecting a silylated monomer to interfacial polymerization. SOLUTION: A first nonaqueous organic solvent solution of anα,ω- dihalopolydiorganosiloxane is reacted with a second immiscible nonaqueous organic solvent solution of a silanolate or organosilanolate represented by R"x Si(OM)4-x or MO(R"2 SiO)n M (wherein R" is a 1-6C alkyl, aryl, alkenyl or alkylamino; x is 0 to 2; n is at least 1; and M is an alkali metal) (wherein the second solvent is immiscible with the first solvent, and the organic groups on theα,ω-dihalopolydiorganosiloxane are different from those on the silanolate or organosilanolate) at an interface formed by the first nonaqueous organic solvent solution or near the interface, and a block copolymer is recovered at or near the interface.
