PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image of high image quality by discriminating the kind of a mounted ink tank and setting the restoring condition of the restoring operation of a recording head. SOLUTION: Voltage is applied across electrode pads 1, 2 (S11) to investigate whether a current flows across the electrode pads 1, 2 across which voltage is applied (S12). When continuity is judged in S12, voltage is applied across the electrode pad 1 and an electrode pad 3 (S13) to investigate whether a current flows across the electrode pads 1, 3 (S14). When the electrodes 1, 3 are judged to be in a continuity state, S15 is executed. In this case, since all of electrodes are in a continuity state, 'ink tank 1' is discriminated. By investigating the continuity state of a contact as mentioned above, the kind of the ink tank mounted on the ink cartridge 1 is discriminated. |
