BLUE LUMINOUS MATERIAL, EL ELEMENT USING THE SAME AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a blue luminous EL(electroluminescence) element having high luminance by using a new blue luminous material. SOLUTION: This EL element is obtained by using a luminous layer comprising a blue luminous material obtained by adding Ce as a luminescence center into a base material comprising CaGax Sy with the proviso that the values of (x) and (y) are within the range of 1.4<=x<=1.9 and 2.9<=y<=3.8, respectively. The blue luminous material has a peak of X-ray diffraction spectrum at at least one position of 13.5±0.2 deg., 14.6±0.2 deg. and 25.7±0.2 deg. when measured by using Kαcharacteristic X-ray of Cu as the X-ray source.
