发明名称 A method of treating fibrous material
摘要 377,768. Electrolytic treatment of fibrous material. WHITE, A. E., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (Dierig Akt.-Ges., C. ; 45, C÷penickerstrasse, Zweigwerk, Gr³nauer Bleiche, Gr³nau, Berlin.) May 12, 1931, No. 14040. [Class 41.] Textile fibrous material is treated for removal of sizing, steeping and bleaching by passage of alternating current through a moving mass of the moistened material. The treatment may be applied to the material while immersed in liquid but is preferably applied outside the bath. In the apparatus shown. a fabric 1 is passed through a suitable liquid in a vessel A and is then passed between rollers 7a .. 7f, 8a .. 8f, appropriately connected to an alternating current generator 43. It then passed through a vessel C and between rollers 13f .. 13a, 14f .. 14a, and repeats the circuit several times, the layers being separated between the two vertical stages by rollers 10. The drive is effected by rollers 15. The fabric leaves the apparatus in a direction at right-angles to the plane of the section by passage over an inclined rod 21 and resumes its original direction by passage over a second inclined rod (not shown) to a tension-compensator G from which it passes to various treating baths. The contact rollers 7, 13 may be of aluminium ; the rollers 10 may be of metal coated with ebonite. A voltage of 220 at 50 cycles is suitable ; auxiliary treatment by high-frequency current may also be employed. Three-phase current may be employed ; special methods of connection of the contact rollers to the phases are described. The impregnating solutions are employed in higher concentrations than those of ordinary bleaching liquors ; to prevent destruction of the fibres anti-catalyzers are added such as colloidal magnesium silicate for bleaching liquors containing oxygen, caustic soda solution for liquors containing hypochlorite, and sulphuric acid for liquors containing sodium peroxide. Colloids such as waste lyes of the sulphite cellulose process and water glass may also be added to absorb pectines, protein substances, and colouring matters. The treatment is applicable to vegetable, animal, and artificial fibres in the form of loose fibre, yarn or fabrics.
