摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a breakage ascribed to an internal residual stress in an abrasive cutting element and the extent of sensibility in a diamond layer to spalling by making this semispherical-form abrasive cutting element form the plane of a tangential chamber in an interface between a metallic base substance and an abrasive cutting layer into a specific angle. SOLUTION: In an abrasive cutting element with the outer edge of an abrasive grain layer and a metallic base substance 2 and having a tangential chamfer 6 in an interface 8 between these elements, an angleΦbetween a plane of the chamfer 6 and another plane of a cylindrical surface 10 of the base substance 2 is set to a range of about 5 to about 85 deg., if desirable about 30 to about 75 deg., especially if possible about 40 to about 55 deg., respectively. A remnant form of this interface 8 is made into semispherical and conical forms or interfacial form in itself. In addition, an abrasive cutting layer is made up of polycrystal diamond or cubic boron nitride, if desirable, while the metallic base substance 2 is selected from a group consisting of a carbide of metals including IVB, VB and VIB groups, if desirable, and it is recommended that tungsten carbide is used in terms of suitableness.
